The New York Jets will spend the offseason revamping their defense. Talent is needed at almost every level, and that holds true at the EDGE position. The Jets have Jermaine Johnson II entering a fate-deciding contract season, and Will McDonald IV is still developing into a more consistent player.
That could lead general manager Darren Mougey to target proven veteran assistance at EDGE. A slew of intriguing pass rushers are currently slated to hit the open market, including Khalil Mack, Malcolm Koonce, Dre’Mont Jones, Jaelan Phillips, and Trey Hendrickson, to name a handful. Well, another recognizable name just hit free agency too.

The Miami Dolphins are releasing veteran EDGE Bradley Chubb, according to various reports. The Jets obviously know Chubb well, having competed against him within the NFC East division. Chubb could emerge as a target for the Jets in free agency.
Chubb missed the entire 2024 campaign after suffering a season-ending ACL injury late into the 2023 season. The former NC State standout returned in 2025 admirably, recording 8.5 sacks this past campaign. That would have led the Jets in sacks.
Mougey and Aaron Glenn must improve their pass-rushing unit this offseason. Seeing Chubb enter free agency provides them with another option to assess.
