Prince Harry pushes back in court over loss of full UK security

Prince Harry returned to London this week to attend a key legal hearing regarding his battle for security rights in the UK.

The Duke of Sussex made a rare appearance at the Royal Courts of Justice on Wednesday, where he was seen greeting supporter as he arrived.

The case centers around 2020 decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) to reduce Harry’s official security, following his step back from royal duties and relocation to the United States.

Harry’s legal team argued that he was unfairly treated, claiming he was singled out and denied the protection typically afforded to members of the royal family.

His lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC, criticised Ravec for not seeking a proper risk assessment from the Risk Management Board, as per their internal procedures.

The Home Office, defending its stance, argued that Harry’s challenge misses the broader context. Its barrister ai8d the case shows a continue failure to see the wood for the trees,’ suggesting the Duke is overlooking the core reasons for the decision.

Harry is appealing a previous court ruling that upheld the Home Office’s actions. This legal challenge marks another chapter in the Duke’s ongoing efforts to secure the level of protection he believes he and his family require when visiting the UK.
