Knicks forward OG Anunoby reportedly out for at least 2 weeks with hamstring strain

    Published on

The New York Knicks will be a little shorthanded over the coming weeks, right as they embark on a lengthy road trip. Starting forward OG Anunoby is reportedly out with a left hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, per ESPN’s Sham Charania.

The team is already without starting guard Jalen Brunson, who is day-to-day with an ankle sprain. Brunson suffered the injury during New York’s win over the Miami Heat on Friday.

Anunoby, now in his second full season with the Knicks, has emerged as a key player on both ends of the court for New York. He’s been averaging 15.8 points per game, plus 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists; he also gets in an average of 1.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per game on the defensive side.

Between Anunoby and Brunson, who leads the team with an average of 28.0 points per game, the Knicks will be without two key scoring players for a tough road trip. New York is set to play five straight games on the road before returning home for an NBA Cup game on Black Friday. One of those games is against the cross-town rival Brooklyn Nets, on Nov. 24.

Even so, New York has some wiggle room, holding a 8-4 record that puts them near the top of the Eastern Conference. Plus, of the seven opponents that the Knicks will play during Anunoby’s evaluation period, only one (the Milwaukee Bucks) sit in the top half of the league right now.
