The King has issued a personal message about living with cancer.
Charles has said his cancer experience brought into “sharp focus the very best of humanity” and, in a written message, told cancer charities: “You have my whole family’s deepest admiration and gratitude”.
He and Camilla are hosting a reception at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday evening in celebration of community-based initiatives raising awareness about cancer and supporting those living with the disease.
The 76-year-old monarch has been receiving treatment for cancer after he announced his diagnosis with an undisclosed form of the disease in February 2024.
Charles, who is known for being a hard worker, returned to public-facing duties in April that year despite still undergoing weekly treatment at the time.
Despite his health “bump” last month, which saw the King spend a brief period in hospital following temporary side effects from cancer treatment, his positive response to the care has meant doctors have been content for him to maintain a busy schedule.
He is said to have thrived on carrying out public and state duties in recent months, seeing them as being of great benefit to his overall wellbeing.
The King and Queen’s recent state visit to Italy featured a string of engagements over three full days and their effect was described as “soft power at its best” delivering “huge benefit for UK interests overseas” by a senior Buckingham Palace official.
Camilla has also paid tribute to her husband’s sense of duty, saying he “loves his work” and was “driven” by helping others.

It comes after the Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on the Isle of Mull on Tuesday, with William speaking of his joy at the occasion.
He and Kate spent the day celebrating the secluded Scottish island’s rural community, having visited Mull as students.
