    The 2025 Drake Relays brought out the top high school track and field athletes from the Iowa City area.

    Clear Creek Amana senior Landon Prince was the only Iowa City-area athlete to clinch a Drake Relays title. Prince became the sixth high school boys athlete to sweep the throwing events in the discus and shot put on the Blue Oval.

    The top athletes in soccer, tennis and golf also showcased great performances this past week.

    Here are the nominees for the Iowa City Press-Citizen’s high school Athletes of the Week for April 21-27. Press-Citizen.com readers vote to decide this week’s winners. Voting closes at 8 p.m. Thursday.

    Athletes are listed in alphabetical order by last name.

    Girls

    Izzy Frees, Sr., Solon

    Frees placed second for the Solon girls golf team against Independence on April 21.

    The fourth-year Spartan shot a 39 over nine holes at the Saddleback Ridge Golf Course.

    Brooklyn Lee, Jr., Clear Creek Amana

    Lee placed first for the CCA girls golf team in a win over Williamsburg on April 21.

    Lee shot a 42 over nine holes to secure the top spot.

    Amaia Martinez, Soph., Iowa City West

    Martinez found the back of the net during Iowa City West girls soccer’s 4-0 shutout over Iowa City High on April 24.

    It was Martinez’s first goal of the season.

    Morgan Miller, Sr., Iowa City Regina

    Miller was a scoring machine during Regina girls soccer’s 5-0 shutout over Monticello on April 21.

    Miller tallied four goals against the Panthers.

    Alexi Thigpen, Jr., Iowa City Liberty

    Thigpen earned fifth place in the girls long jump at the Drake Relays.

    The third-year Lightning recorded a leap of 17 feet, 7 inches.

    Boys

    James Barnett, Fr., Iowa City West

    Barnett placed fourth in the boys shot put in his first appearance at the Drake Relays.

    He threw a heave of 55 feet, 11 inches on the Blue Oval.

    Matt Colony, Sr., Iowa City Regina

    Colony supplied a scoring boost during Regina boys soccer’s 10-0 shutout over Monticello on April 21.

    The fourth-year Regal recorded two goals and an assist against the Panthers.

    Julian Lally, Sr., Iowa City High

    Lally pulled out a tough singles win during Iowa City High boys tennis’ 6-3 win over Iowa City Liberty on April 22.

    Lally dropped the first set, 5-7, then won the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5). He then clinched the third set 1-0 (13-11). He also won a doubles match with teammate Ja’Braun Reed.

    Landon Prince, Sr., Clear Creek Amana

    Prince won a pair of Drake Relays titles in an impressive fashion in Des Moines.

    The fourth-year Clipper was the only shot-putter to throw over 60 feet, and he did it four times. He recorded a throw of 185 feet, 0.25 inches to clinch the discus title.

    Isaiah Zoske, Sr., Solon

    Zoske placed second at the West Delaware Boys Golf Invitational for Solon boys golf on April 25.

    The fourth-year Spartan shot a 73 over 18 holes.
